Whole School Improvement

EDLounge was created and used in Isolation and Inclusion at Balby Carr Community Sports College in 2009. The aim was to prevent students from being excluded for a fixed term. The platform initailly housed 400 lessons online, with one hundred lessons each in English, Maths, Science and Worksills. The students were placed on the system with teaching support present to help so they did not fall behind.

Today, we have over 10,000 lessons with an extensive range of 'behaviour repair' lessons, too, so that every learner has a personalised pathway whilst in detention, isolation, or inclusion so that they can:

  • follow a unique and personalised pathway
  • catch up with work misssed
  • build knowledge, understanding and self-esteem in their own area with a tutor online to support them
  • gain support with an issue that might have been a barrier to learning
  • (most importantly) be reintegrated back into mainstream education without missing any aspect of learning

Alongside the Core, Academic and Vocational content on the platform we have created an extensive library of elearning content including behaviour repair work sessions for your learners to follow when they have behaved innappropriately. The behaviour lessons have been assembled so that they address Ofsted's requirements for behaviour work and enable a start for your behaviour repair work whilst students are in isolation. This behaviour work enables learners to address their behavioural issues alongside their personalised pathway where they can have an extensive range of English, Maths, Science and other subjects you choose for their learning.
