My Junior Content Producer Apprenticeship with EDLounge

I am doing a Level 3 Junior Content Producer apprenticeship with EDLounge and I am working with EDClass, their sister company that takes on apprentices. I have been here since 15th February 2022 so not very long, but it will take me 18 months to complete my apprenticeship.

After finishing my GSCEs I went to college for two months where I was doing Graphic Design, Photography and Media Studies. I decided to leave college as I didn’t feel like I fitted into the environment. I decided to do some online courses in graphic design and interior design. Then I started working in a family business in the beauty industry, became their social media manager, designed price lists and much more.

I knew university wasn’t really a route I wanted to go down and didn’t explore as I thought I don’t want one specific subject. I then decided I wanted to get an apprenticeship in social media or create content for a company. I went on a few interviews but EDLounge stood out to me and I managed to get an interview with EDClass. It went well and I was successful and was offered the role of Junior Content Producer. I am really happy where I am now and doing the projects I wanted to be a part of.

Why I chose a Junior Content Producer apprenticeship

I enjoyed the fact that an apprenticeship was a role that includes learning and regular income. I came across two apprenticeships of Level 3 Digital Marketing and Level 3 Junior Content Producer. I ended up liking the Junior Content Producer apprenticeship as it gave me more options. In the first couple of weeks, I’ve been here, I have learnt a lot. I have joined the Media and Marketing team. I have watched my colleagues around me working which has taught me a lot about the company and about what we do as a whole.

My current daily task consists of completing 3-5 emails per day and updating data. I am still in the learning process of being an Apprentice so I am currently learning the fundamentals of WordPress and creating landing pages. Additionally, I am honing my skills on Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop when I am given any designing tasks required by the team or senior management.

Furthermore, I am learning the basics about SEO and Google analytics. I had never considered their importance before joining the company. I am excited to learn much more and would even like to delve into the video editing aspect with the company further into my apprenticeship.
